When I stepped out of the plane, the mild air carried the scent of a warm summer evening. The skies red from the sun that just set some minutes earlier. I've never been to Portugal before, but a few days were enough to fall in love with the small country in the most south-west of Europe. We spent one week in a tiny cottage between oleander and palm trees. I can't wait to show you more.

The cliffs in the west of Lagos hide some of the most beautiful beaches in Europe. Embrace the sun between rocks and caves just some minutes walk to the old town of Lagos.

Hmm, is there something better than a chewy bar, full of great ingredients? The good new is, it's super-easy to make them at home instead of buying them super-expensive. You just need a few ingredients, mix and bake them.
I decided to make them with dates as a base, cashews, a lot of chia seeds and cacao, some cinnamon and sesame. They are full of protein and perfect to eat as a little mood and energy boost on long days at work.

Get a perfect fit
Almost every woman struggles to find a certain type of garment in shops. For example when the pants fit you on your waist, but they are too short on your legs. Others struggle to find a shirt that fits on the shoulders and isn’t too loose on your waist. This happens because every body is different. And it’s not just about hourglass, pea or triangle shapes. When I got a skirt tailored, the left side needed to be smaller because my left tight seems to be thinner than the right one. Small details like that decide if a piece fits you well or not. Even your posture influences the pattern. To produce a ready-made garment for a shop, they have to decide for one pattern and size. Though this size is standardized doesn’t mean that it fits everyone.
Feel more comfortable
The moment you start to wear tailored clothes you will never want to wear anything else. A piece that fits you perfectly is just so much more comfortable to wear and will feel like a second skin. No more twitching to get the piece back where it belongs. Instead it flatters the nice areas of your body and hides the disadvantages (and we all have them).
It's about the perfect pattern
Making the perfect pattern can take a lot of time. It’s about finding the perfect place for the seam or the right draping. That’s plenty of time most labels we usually buy from can’t afford, because they have to keep up with the speed of the industry and trends. They try to in cooperate a trend in their collection but don’t spend enough time to get a perfect pattern. And a great pattern is what makes the difference when you wear a piece. Who likes having too much fabric where you don’t need it or fabric that makes strange buckles.
Get creative and decide yourself
The best part about it is, that you are able to decide. Ask the designer about fabrics, lining, colors, details… the possibilities are endless. Get creative and help the designer to create your perfect piece.
Get a one of a kind piece
Are you annoyed by those H&M or Zara pieces every single of your friends or collegues owns? Then you should get a tailored piece that stands out from the mass. A tailored garment will always be a one of a kind piece. It’s unique. It can be super simple and have that one beautiful detail you will never be able to find on a ready-to wear piece.
Support local designers and slow fashion
Getting your clothes tailored includes that you get to know local designers you can support. There are so many cool designers out there running a tiny studio. Come on guys, slow fashion is the next big thing. If you decide to visit a design studio, I would invest in a classic piece and you will be able to wear it far longer than only one season.
You’ll appreciate it more
When you get a piece tailored you’ll be involved in the process of the fabrication. Like that you get to know the piece, you can see how it works and even how it gets produced. You might get to know the person that makes your clothes, which makes it even more fun. It takes some time after you ordered it until it’s ready, but like that you just get even more excited for the moment when you're finally able to wear it.
But what does this cost me?
It's obvious and I won't be lying to you, that getting your tailored might get a little expensive. The main reason for this is, that the person who makes the garment is a highly skilled seamstress who earns a fair wage. Still, if you never gave it a try before, you should think about investing in a tailored piece. See it as an investment in a more timeless and concious wardrobe - this is a huge trend! Keep in mind, that what makes it expensive to get your clothes tailored, is when you wish for complicated patterns or pieces that need many hours to be made. A new basic top or pants instead are affordable and so worth the investment.

Every season it's the same. We watch the trends, find out what we love and where to buy, but until we make a final decision, summer is almost over. Still perfectly in time, here is a list with my favorites for you, in case you are still wondering what you should get. And even though I won't wear most of it, I still enjoy looking at the beautiful pieces. For me, tailored pants became my favorites over the past year and I wear them almost every day. Besides, this summer I can't live without a colorful bathing suit :) All pieces above are from Topshop. Only the beautiful birk sneakers are from Toms and they will definitely land in my wardrobe...

Some places we travel just leave a special mark in our heart. Far away places that become a home. Wandering the world, we connect to different cities. And some of them just have their own magic. A magic we crave and that makes us come back though there are still many more new places to explore.
Kona is one of this towns. They say either you love that Ali drive or you hate it. I could never imagine hating it, though it's so far from perfect. It might be about the memories I made there. The friendships that bound me back to a place that changed my life. There will always be that bond. And I know I will be back sooner than I ever thought.
I lived in that town, and faster than I knew, I became a part of it. Now it's a part of me. If you become a Kona girl once, you will always be a Kona girl.

I think I'm right when I assume that we're all on the search for a more fulfilled life. It's as human as breathing that we're looking for something that gives our life a sense. We seek it in relationships, our career, money, status, clothes, beauty and the list goes on. Many of these things fill our life for sure, but there's only one thing that really fulfills. Here is what matters for me to live a truly fulfilled life. These things might not be a secret, but they're worth a thought.
1. Go for your passion
Life would be boring if there weren't things that would really excite me. Things I'm passionate about, things that make me jump out of bed in the morning. Things I decide to work hard for and stick to it. I don't know what it is for you. I'm passionated about sports and creating beautiful things. But I'm also convinced that passion isn't the only thing we need. Perseverance is essential to reach our goals. But without passion, there wouldn't either be a reason for us to start nor to keep going.
2. Live a life of love
It's one of my strongest craves to live a life in love, but also one of the hardest. Love is so essential and simple, still so challenging. Love will change the perspective how we see ourselves and how we see the people around us. It will change our view on the life we live.
3. Open your eyes for the details
The beauty of life will always lay in the details. In the delicious rhubarb ice-cream shared with friends on a warm spring day. In the moment when the wind blows through your hair and you just feel exactly in the right place. In the moment when you reach the top the mountain and the view takes your breath away. The moment when you accomplished something you worked on with all your strength. In the warming cup of tea on a cold morning. In the tight hug. The honest smile. In the second of a moment when it just feels perfect.
I started a journal some weeks ago and I decided to write down one beautiful moment from each day. I ask myself that question every evening "What lovely story happened today?". And I never missed to find at least one perfect detail.
4. Jesus
There is no one but Jesus. And no one else gives our life a real reason but him. He who loved us beyond and died on the cross to make a life possible for us, where we can live fulfilled and in freedom. I could search fulfillment at the ends of the earth. And all my dreams ever dreamed could come true. But I would never feel truly fulfilled without Jesus as my savior.

It's a sad fact, that the more busy we get, the less we read. We read the newspaper, work stuff, blogs, flip through coffee table books. But there is quite nothing like reading a good novel, the feeling when you loose yourself in a story. When your own problems just disappear and an other persons thoughts become your own. There are millions of great books out there and at least 10 on my nightstand waiting for me. Goodbye for now www, you can find my head behind a good old book now!

Back then you had a smile on your face. By now you know that it was a lie. Like many things in life. Even millions of lives themselves are lies. Hidden behind a nice story told, behind a pretty picture, like a wave rolling in. Either you catch it and go with it or you drown.
Dear boy, I hope that you still have a smile on your face, that there is a girl that loves spending time with you. Someone that cares for you and fights for you in a country that is not your home, but hopefully will be some day.
